Baking Cookies Guide

One of the more recent activities to sweep the island, baking cookies may very well become the preferred way of training the Culinary Arts skill. Before, the only way you could learn it was by listening to a class on it or making lemonade at the lemonade stand in Downtown Cape Marassas, and since the stand is run by a child, it isn't open 24 hours a day and thus made it a bit inconvenient.

However, the Crumbs bakery in the Mercado de Dos Palmas Mall is open all the time. There are several locations on the island where you can bake cookies, however, the ingredients are only available in the kitchen at Crumbs.

The baking locations that I know of are:

the Crumbs kitchen the Coral's Cafe kitchen
the Jade Dragon kitchen Christy's Catering on the Paradis Plantation

If you know of any other baking locations not listed here, please email Zac.

Now, to bake cookies, the first thing you'll need to do is buy the ingredients and proper equipment from the Crumbs kitchen. I've included the menu from the Crumbs kitchen in this guide for easy reference.

Now, once you have your ingredients and equipment, you need to decide which kind of cookies you want to make. The two kinds of cookies you can make are Rolled Cookies and Drop Cookies.

Rolled Cookies require a rolling pin and a cookie cutter. Drop Cookies require only a knife.

Rolled Cookies take more time to prepare so if you want to get as much Culinary Arts training as possible, they're probably the best way to go. Follow the instructions below for rolled cookies.

Open my dough
Roll my dough
Look my dough
Keep rolling until you see "The <flavor> dough has been rolled out evenly and is ready to cut with a cookie cutter!"
Cut my dough
Put my cookies in oven

Please note that different baking locations don't all have an oven. The Crumbs Kitchen has an oven, whereas the Jade Dragon Kitchen and Christy's Catering have stoves, and Coral's Cafe has a range. So, make sure to replace oven with stove or range if baking somewhere other than the Crumbs Kitchen.

Follow these instructions for Drop Cookies.

Open my dough
Cut my dough
Put my cookies in oven

Now you will want to check on your cookies from time to time. To do that LOOK MY COOKIES IN OVEN.

When you see that your cookies are "nicely browned" they are ready to come out, at which point you should TAKE MY COOKIES FROM OVEN. You will then take the cookies out of the oven, put them on a cooling rack, and then put them into a glossy bag. If you prefer a specific color bag, each baking location does offer a different color bag.

Crumbs - a glossy red bag
Coral's Cafe - a glossy pink bag
Christy's Catering - a glossy white bag
Jade Dragon - a glossy green bag

Note that if you do take your cookies out too soon, you can't put them back in and can only throw them away. If you leave them in too long, the burned cookies will be taken out of the oven for you and disposed of.

Each cylinder of dough will make six cookies, which you can eat if you want, or you can sell them in the Crumbs Kitchen. Once the bag is empty, I'd suggest putting it in a recycling bin to get a small boost to your Earth Science skill.

Also, please don't forget to clean up after yourself. Both kinds of cookies will leave small bits of raw dough left on the counter, which you should throw away in the refuse container. Each bit of raw dough is about two bites, and you can eat it if you so choose, however, you should NEVER eat more then one bite of raw dough in one sitting, because if you do, you will get VERY sick and DIE. While it's true that death is not permanent on Morada, due to it's advanced medical technology, the hospital bill for resurrection can be pretty high, so, I'd advise avoiding it all together. You can of course take your pins, knives, and cutters with you to come back and bake again.

Now, in case you don't believe me about getting sick and dieing from eating raw cookie dough, or if you'd like to know what happens without actually experiencing it yourself, feel free to click here.
