Gem Hunting Guide Gems are found by SEARCHing in Oberon's Treasure Vault, located in the Limestone Caverns. Like some other activities, such as foraging or seashell hunting, searching for gems can be dangerous. Once getting past the Apparitions which haunt other areas of the Limestone Caverns, there are also low-hanging rocks to watch out for in Oberon's Treasure Vault, and it's very easy to crack your head open on one of them. The wounds are pretty easy to take care of, but you will want to be able to reliably tend your wounds with the First Aid skill, you'll need about 120 hours, before you take up this hobby. If you don't have the required First Aid skill, you can still search for gems, though it is advisable that you never do it without another person who is either good in First Aid or has the Humanities ability FOCUS PHOENIX FIRE. Speaking of FOCUS PHOENIX FIRE if you don't have that ability or the PSI INFRAVISION ability, you will need to purchase a light source of some kind in order to even enter the Limestone Caverns because it's very dark in the caverns. Also, please note that your PBR Communicator will not work while in the caverns, so it's a good idea to turn it off so that you don't waste the battery. Another item of equipment you should buy to go searching for gems is a helmet. Yeardley's Armory in the West End sells a protective helmet and a heavy helmet. Either one is fine for gem hunting, and while it will not always prevent head injuries (it is possible to strike a rock at an odd angle not covered by your helmet while searching) it can be a very useful tool in avoiding them. The types of gems you can find by SEARCHing for them, in other words not dropped by a perp, are:
The gem qualities available are: cloudy, cracked, jagged, or no adjective. If you've found a gem from SEARCHing that is not listed on the above list, please email Zac with your find so that this list can be updated. All gems that you find can be sold to Mel the Jeweler at the Sapphire Seas Jewelry Store on Ocean View Road in Downtown Cape Marassas. |
