Sampling Kits Guide

The kits listed below are all available at the Gizmogoria gadget shop in the Emporium on Ocean View Road in Downtown Cape Marassas. Getting a successful sample with one of these kits is often the only way that many of the mysteries around the island can be solved. Whether or not you get a successful sample depends largely upon difficulty and your ability in the applicable skill.

To take a sample, you should: SAMPLE <item> with kit

If you're uncertain if you've managed to get a successful sample, it would be a wise decision to take multiple samples at once and then go and deposit them all. This betters your chances of getting a successful sample, and thus not having to wait an hour for the sample results, only to find out that you weren't successful, and have to go back to take another sample.

Once you have taken a sample, you should drop it off at the Hawthorne Research Facility, which is on the University of Morada campus. From the Emporium, the directions to Hawthorne Research are one block east, one block north, one block east, and then go through two sets of doors. You should see a button once you reach the correct room, at which point you should PUSH the BUTTON. This will signal the attendant that you're there, at which point you should DEPOSIT your SAMPLE. It will take one hour of Moradian time for the sample to be analyzed and the analysis report to be prepared.

After an hour has passed, go back and PUSH the BUTTON again. When the attendant comes out you should ask about the status of your samples, by saying "Status", at which point the attendant will give you instructions for retrieving the analysis report prepared for your sample or samples, or tell you how long you still have to wait, if an hour has not yet passed.

Kits cost $50 Moradian dollars. The numbers under the "Item #" column in the below list refer to the number of each kit in the Gizmogoria's menu.

Item # Name of Kit Description of Kit
5 Dactylograph This kit contains supplies for obtaining clear palm and finger prints.
6 Serology Used for obtaining residual samples of bodily fluids, such as blood, saliva, etc.
7 Microbiology All you need for gathering up bits of those tiny little life-forms (and their residences).
8 Foam Canister This gently expanding foam creates precise casts of any impression - tracks, dents, tire treads. Each cast hardens in seconds without destroying the original indentation. Multiple uses in each 16 oz. canister.
9 Phytology Used in the gathering of leaf, root and bud - or any other part of a plant you might wish to add to your collection or send in for analysis.
10 Chemical Sampling Just what the name implies - safely obtain samples of those unknown chemicals with this kit.
11 Hazard Not just for sampling! This packet contains many of the devices needed to handle explosives and other materials considered "hazardous".
12 Paranormal Serious equipment for obtaining recordings of paranormal sensations and abstractions.
13 Forensics The basics needed for in-the-field forensics examination and evidence gathering.
14 Genetics Precise implements for obtaining and storing genetic evidentiary material.
15 Mineralogy The perfect set for those interested in collecting ores and minerals.
16 Gemology For stones of more substantial worth.
17 Meteorography All the basics you need to record meteorological phenomena.
18 Pharmacology Used for the safe collection and storage of drugs, poisons, and other like substances.
19 Mephitics Gathering samples of biohazards, i.e. substances infected with viral or bacterial agents, can be deadly. This kit will help lessen the risks to you while insuring that any such samples will maintain integrity.
